Burkina: More than 26,000 pupils and schoolchildren have returned to class in Séno

More than 20,000 schoolchildren and 6,000 post-primary and secondary school students returned to class this Tuesday, October 1, 2024 , in the province of Séno, noted an AIB journalist on site.According to the Regional Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DREPPNF) of the Sahel El hadj Boubacar, present at the launching ceremony of the 2024-2025 educational activities, held at the Petit Paris A school in Dori, there are real reasons for satisfaction to see the start of the 2024-2025 school year taking place in the region at the same time as other parts of Burkina Faso.For him, the challenge for this school year is to ensure educational continuity and the quality of education, to achieve better educational results in the Sahel region.To do this, Mr. Boubacar called on teachers, parents, students and education partners to be resilient and to believe that education is also and still possible in the Sahel region despite insecurity.According to the provincial director of preschool, prima ry and non-formal education (DREPPNF) of Séno, Hamadou Boureima Dicko, the major difficulty of this school year remains insecurity. He called on all stakeholders and partners in education to work together to achieve educational objectives in the province of Séno.The goal for this school year for the chief inspector of the Dori 2 basic education district, Ilyassoum Maiga, is to obtain better academic results. This is why Mr. Maiga congratulated the teachers for the academic achievements of the past year, and encouraged them to redouble their efforts because they are the torchbearers of education.Dicko Hamidou, president of the parents' association of the Dori A school, promised that during this school year, his umbrella organization will fully play its part by serving as a transmission belt between the school and the community.Already at work in the CM2 class of the Petit Paris A school, the students, through Miss Nouria Sawadogo, said they were very enthusiastic and promised to invest themselves during the school year to achieve a rate of 100% in the CEP.The 2024-2025 school year is also effective at post-primary and secondary level according to the person in charge, Mr. Damien Tiendrébéogo, who toured the establishments in the city of Dori.According to him, the staff and students are present and the instructions are being carried out. According to Mr. Tiendrébéogo, the major challenge of this school year is the organization of provincial mock exams in the second quarter of the year.The provincial director of post-primary and secondary education of Séno urged teachers to be more selfless and resilient and requested the support of parents of students for the success of the educational work.The headmaster of the provincial high school of Dori, Djibril Tiemtoré, affirmed that the start of the school year is effective in his establishment.
