Ouagadougou: The 10th edition of Information and Orientation Week (SIO) is set to empower 15,000 visitors, including new high school graduates, in making informed decisions regarding their training courses in public and private universities. The event, held at the SIAO site from July 14 to 19, 2025, marks a significant step in educational guidance.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event commenced on July 15, with the opening ceremony presided over by the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Adjima Thiombiano. The ceremony laid the groundwork for a week of interaction between new graduates and higher education stakeholders, featuring 85 universities and higher education institutes showcasing their courses to the attendees.

The General Directorate of University Guidance and Scholarships organized the event to provide a comprehensive framework for discussion and information. This initiative aims to assist new graduates in making informed career choices. Professor Thiombiano emphasized the event's maturity and its alignment with ongoing educational reforms and the presidential initiative for quality education.

The program includes sessions on scholarships, social services by the National Center for University Works, and the orientation process on the Campus Faso platform. Minister Thiombiano highlighted the ongoing redefinition of training offerings in public universities, focusing on the selection of priority courses.

Professor Marie Laure Sougoti/Guissou, Director General of University Career Guidance and Scholarships, stated that the event provides a space for information, discussion, and advice, aiding new graduates, parents, and professionals in career decision-making. She noted that future students would engage in individual and group sessions with career counselors throughout the week, facilitating thoughtful course selection and career planning.
