Ouagadougou: The second edition of the week dedicated to psychosocial and spiritual support for the widows, orphans, wounded, and missing members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) took place on Monday at the Naaba Koom II camp. The event was attended by Brigadier General Moussa Diallo, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is designed to foster dialogue, offer comfort, and provide spiritual renewal for 144 families of fallen heroes, the wounded, and those missing in action. Nafisetou Guira, representing the families of those who perished in service, expressed deep gratitude to the authorities and the people of Burkina Faso for their ongoing support. She highlighted the importance of remembering their contributions and pledged that the children would strive to honor their legacy through education.
Brigadier General Diallo emphasized the importance of solidarity and cohesion within the army, noting that providing psychosocial and spiritual support to families and the wounded is a fundamental duty. He announced activities including the distribution of school kits to orphans, a conference for camp staff, visits to war-wounded personnel, and a multi-faith prayer day scheduled for Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Naaba Koom II camp.
General Diallo commended the national authorities and support organizations for their commitment to offering dignified and sustainable care to families and the injured. Commander of the Republican Guard, Souleymane Zango, noted that this special week for combatants’ beneficiaries stemmed from recognizing that even well-trained and equipped defense forces face significant mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges.
