The Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie neutralized this Thursday, in an offensive carried out in the Tanwalbougou area (Gourma, East), several terrorists and apprehended one.

Weapons, ammunition and other materials were seized or destroyed, according to an army statement.

“On Thursday, June 22, 2023, a group from the Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie (USIGN) carried out an offensive action against terrorists spotted in the Tanwalbougou area (05 km from Bougui on the Fada- Tanwalbougou) in the East region.

On the balance sheet there are several terrorists neutralized and an element apprehended. Weapons, ammunition and other materials were seized or destroyed.

Friend side, no loss of human life or injury.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces salutes the fighting spirit, the bravery and the spirit of sacrifice of the men who relentlessly hunt down terrorist groups.
