The 6th edition of the Festival of Cultural Identities (FESTIC) under the theme: ‘identity and construction of peace’ was officially launched on Tuesday in the Ouidi district of Ouagadougou.
‘There is the need to understand the impact of cultural identity on peace in order to promote peaceful coexistence and build resilient societies’, in a context of decomposition-recomposition of cultural identities, declared the secretary general of the ministry in charge of culture Fidèle Aymar Tamini.
He spoke Tuesday in Ouidi, on behalf of the Minister in charge of Culture, Emmanuel Ouédraogo, patron of the festival of the 6th edition of the Festival of Cultural Identities (FESTIC).
For the Secretary General, FESTIC, constitutes in the current context of the country, a showcase to promote cultural diversity as a fertile field for cultivating self-discovery and that of others, and tolerance which are unconditional values ??for building peace.
For the president of the organizing committee Kadidia Sidibé, this event of
fers the opportunity to celebrate African cinema and further popularize African values.
‘We are firmly convinced that the crisis the country is experiencing will persist in the face of the resilience and determination of the people to restore peace,’ she declared.
According to the director of FESTIC Christophe Ouédraogo underlined that 25 films will be screened on the Ouidi site and at the university campus of the Institute of Sciences (IDS) to show how societies which have experienced crises have overcome them to rebuild themselves.
In addition, during this festival which will take place until May 11, around thirty actors will deepen their knowledge with confirmed talents such as Issaka Ouédraogo and Laure Guiré, without forgetting the night of the dagaras, indicated director of FESTIC.
