Burkina: The government inaugurates infrastructure worth nearly 30 billion FCFA in the commune of Fada N’Gourma

Ouagadougou: The government inaugurated on Friday June 28, 2024 in Fada N'Gourma, sanitation, road, education and health infrastructures, worth nearly 30 billion FCFA, carried out within the framework of the implementation of the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project (PUDTR), an initiative of the Burkinabe State with the support of the World Bank.A government team led by the chief of staff of the Burkinabe head of state representing President Ibrahim Traoré, Captain Céleste Anderson Médah, inaugurated infrastructure built by the PUDTR in the town of Fada N'Gourma.These infrastructures include sanitation works (gutters), bitumen and paved roads, a Preschool Early Learning and Education Center (CEEP) and an equipped Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS).According to Captain Céleste Anderson Médah, these infrastructures were built because the President of Faso has once again concretized his commitment to the populations.'The development plans which are being carried out in all regi ons of the country have been able to materialize through the World Bank,' he indicated.Captain Médah also invited the population to support the authorities and take steps to maintain what is entrusted to them, in order to be able to progress in the development already initiated while being in the fight against terrorism.The Resident Representative of the World Bank in Burkina Faso, Hamoud Abdel Wedoud Kamil, welcomed the satisfactory results of the PUDTR which are reflected in achievements like those inaugurated 18 months from the closure of the project.He also noted that the project made it possible to directly impact around 1 million 500 thousand people, including internally displaced people.The Minister in charge of Finance, Dr Aboubakar Nacanabo, for his part, recalled the objective of the PUDTR which is to improve the inclusive access of communities including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to essential social services, infrastructure and food.'The town of Fada N'Gourma, one of the main ben eficiaries of PUDTR interventions, is today completely transformed by structuring investments, worth nearly 30 billion FCFA,' noted the minister.These investments are, among others, the construction of 50 km of rural roads, support for the education, health, drinking water and food security sectors, support for the implementation of 'Income-generating activities (AGR), the construction of 2 complete CSPS and a transit and listening center for victims of gender-based violence (GBV) as well as 2 preschool awareness and education centers.'The city has been equipped with a sanitation master plan which offers an optimal vision for a progressive intervention of which the current work represents the priority phase,' continued Aboubakar Nacanabo.According to him, the government, through these actions, intends to strengthen the resilience of the city of Fada and the populations who live there and this intervention consists of absorbing the shock linked to the massive arrival of IDPs.'The HIMO (High Labor Inten sity) concept has paved the roads in the city of Fada,' argued the Minister in charge of Finance.He invited the population of Fada to unite and take ownership of the infrastructure and take care of it so that it contributes to the influence of the entire region.The ministers present handed out checks and kits to beneficiaries for the implementation of income-generating activities. They also visited the Early Learning and Preschool Education Center (CEEP) in sector 3 and the CSPS in sector 2 of Fada N'Gourma.Source: Burkina Information Agency
