The first Open Digital Space (ENO), of the virtual university of Burkina Faso, was inaugurated on Friday in Karpala in district 11 of the city of Ouagadougou, in order to allow students to easily follow their courses.
“The virtual university project is an opportunity offered by information and communication technologies as a response to the many problems faced by public universities”, declared the Minister in charge of Higher Education, Adjima Thiombiano.
The inauguration of the first Open Digital Space (ENO) of the Virtual University (UV), chaired by Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla, will allow Ouagalais students to easily follow their courses in the new site of the UV- BF.
Mr. Thiombiano who spoke this Friday in Karpala in district 11 of the city of Ouagadougou on the occasion of the official inauguration of the first ENO of the UV.
He assured that actions will be carried out for the benefit of students for the proper functioning of the virtual university, such as the exceptional subsidy of 85% on computers and access to a quality connection.
For him, the new gem is an alternative for equitable access to quality higher education.
The president of the UV-BF, Pr Jean-Marie Dipama pointed out that since the creation of this university in 2019, it has to date nearly 2000 students divided into 10 sectors including 4 at master’s level and 6 at license level.
According to Pr Dipama, other ENOs will be opened in the cities of Ouagadougou, Bobo Dioulasso and in the other regional capitals of the country.
“The virtual university is preparing to welcome 10,000 students from the start of the next school year with new courses including law, modern letters and economics and management sciences,” he added.
Pr Dipama noted that the UV-BF constitutes a paradigm shift at the level of higher education in Burkina Faso.
Functional since May 2020, the UV-BF brings together nearly 2,000 students with 10 training courses, including 4 at master’s level and 6 at license level
