Ouagadougou: The Director General of the Burkinabe Copyright Office (BBDA), Hamed Patric Lega, has officially initiated the call for projects funded by the Cultural Promotion Fund (FPC) in Ouagadougou. The initiative aims to finance 456 projects across different cultural sectors with a substantial budget of 300,280,000 CFA francs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Hamed Patric Lega emphasized the intention behind this call for projects, which is to enable project leaders to better prepare and present their applications efficiently. The funding will cover various cultural fields, with expectations set for 294 projects in music, 37 in literature, 25 in dance, 36 in cinema and audiovisual, 32 AGP projects, and another 32 in theater.
Mr. Lega outlined that each project is eligible to receive funding amounting to 85% of its total cost, contingent upon the beneficiary's commitment to fund the remaining 15% necessary for project completion. Applications are open from May 22 to June 26, 2025, at the BBDA headquarters and its regional offices, with a strong emphasis on adherence to the submission timetable.
During the launch on May 18, 2025, Lega underscored the FPC's objective to bolster innovative projects within the cultural sector. FPC department head Aminata Ouedraogo/Ba highlighted that selection criteria will focus on a project's originality, theme, and impact on arts and culture development. She called for innovative and competitive projects that could thrive both nationally and internationally.
Additionally, Ouedraogo/Ba cautioned project leaders about the implementation of measures to identify works potentially generated by artificial intelligence, underscoring the fund's commitment to originality and authenticity in cultural expressions.
