Ouagadougou: The Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CIL) organized an exchange and awareness-raising meeting on Tuesday in Ouagadougou for the executive staff of the National Armed Forces. The focus was on their obligations regarding the protection of personal data, aiming to promote efficient and reasoned use of IT tools within the army.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was welcomed by the Minister of State, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General C©lestin Simpor©. He emphasized the importance of such training in a society where crises are recurrent and the significance of cyber defense in preserving the defense interests. The minister highlighted the need to raise awareness among stakeholders about the advantages and disadvantages of IT use, advocating for its efficient and careful application to prevent potential abuses.

Dr. Halgui¨ta Nassa/Trawina, President of CIL, stressed that data protection is crucial for operational performance and strategic trust. She encouraged strengthening the alliance to make cyberspace as robust as the national commitment. Dr. Nassa/Trawina invited participants to engage in discussions, urging them to raise questions and share both good practices and challenges they face.
