Banfora: The Hounoumbi© Association "C€¦‚¬Å“ur d'Or" offered food and non-food items to people living with sickle cell disease and albinism on Saturday in Banfora. With medicines, school kits, sunglasses, clothes and bags of rice, the Hounoumbi© Association "Heart of Gold" comes to the aid of people living with sickle cell disease and albinism in the locality.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Clarisse Hema/Soulama, President of the Hounoumbi© "Heart of Gold" Association, stated that these donations were made possible thanks to the association's members and some goodwill. She emphasized that the association aims to support children living with sickle cell disease and albinism through their care and to organize awareness sessions as well as screening campaigns for these diseases.
Ms. Hema also appealed to people with sickle cell disease and albinism, and particularly to parents, to pay attention to their status. She urged everyone to seek to know their electrophoresis before any relationship that could lead to marriage, identifying it as the best solution to prevent the increase in the number of children with sickle cell disease.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Access to Isolation, Adama Luc Sorgho, encouraged the Association for the initiative, which has helped to enlighten the region's population about these diseases. He expressed his willingness to support these kinds of initiatives and to always provide support to people with sickle cell disease and albinism.
Mr. Sorgho also invited the population to support this association in its activities for the care of people suffering from sickle cell disease and albinism. The Hounoumbi© 'C€¦‚¬Å“ur d'Or' Association was created with the aim of contributing to the fight against sickle cell disease and albinism in Burkina Faso.
