Ziro: The eighth edition of the Dui-BSti Cup once again brought together, this Saturday, the people of Cassou, in the province of Ziro, around the values of sport and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the high patronage of Boubacar Berehoundougou, vice-president of the Burkinabe Football Federation in charge of the youth categories, and chaired by Bibiane Kayalma, prefect and president of the special delegation of Cassou. The final match was played on the communal field, where the Cassou 1 team triumphed over the Ouayou team in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in regulation time.
The victory was celebrated under the glare of car headlights due to the lack of streetlights, with Cassou 1 eventually winning 4-3 on penalties. The team succeeded the Lon team, who held the trophy from the previous edition. Cassou 1 received a set of jerseys, a ball, and an envelope containing 50,000 CFA francs, while the runner-up Ouayou was awarded 40,000 CFA francs, along with jerseys and a ball.
Cassou 1 captain Rouamba Gael expressed his team’s pride, stating, “Victory is the reward for effort and perseverance. It was very close, but we kept the faith until the very end.” He further dedicated the victory to the people of Cassou and their supporters.
The event also featured other sports, such as a women’s cycling race won by Solange Sinare, who dedicated her victory to her family and the community. Additionally, a petanque competition saw the Leaders duo defeat the Batic duo with a score of 12 to 3.
Evariste Diasso, the event’s promoter, was pleased with the event’s success and the enthusiasm it generated, highlighting its importance as a regular event. He called for unity and resilience among the people of Cassou in the face of the country’s challenges.
Sponsors Bebou Emmanuel Biyen and Abdramane Batienon, CEO of the transport company Cellulaire, expressed their ongoing support for the event and its promoter. Ibrahima Zongo, representing the ceremony’s sponsor, lauded the competition’s regional significance after eight years of benefiting the Cassou community.
The Dui-BSti Cup concluded with a festive atmosphere, featuring performances by the Nemaro orchestra from Leo and musician Jacky Nama, solidifying the event’s crucial role in Ziro’s sports scene.
