Catholic Faithful in Dialgaye Commune Clean Cemeteries to Honor Ancestors

Dialgaye:Catholic faithful and residents of the Dialgaye commune gathered on Saturday, October 3, 2026, to clean local cemeteries by removing weeds and waste from gravesites, honoring the memory of their deceased.

According to Burkina Information Agency, participants equipped with machetes, hoes, rakes, and other tools took part in this cleanup initiative. The event aims to maintain the dignity of burial places and keep the memory of the deceased alive.

Bere Noelie, a resident of Koostabin, emphasized that the activity is a gesture of remembrance and recognition towards ancestors. She encouraged everyone to maintain the cleanliness of gravesites, highlighting the importance of honoring those who have passed.

Namena Marie Jeanne from Natenga pointed out that this mobilization helps fight unsanitary conditions and reduces the risk of disease. She urged women to keep their properties clean and encouraged greater community involvement in sanitation efforts.

Oubda Éloi stressed the operation's goal of preserving ancestral tombs and urged those with loved ones buried elsewhere to ensure the dignity of their resting places.

Oubda Jean, president of CPL, remarked that the day's activities showcase the community's commitment to cleanliness and respect for the deceased. He noted that the event is held annually to prevent weed overgrowth and waste accumulation, advocating for collective participation from Catholic, Muslim, and Protestant communities in this respectful remembrance of the deceased.

The initiative not only serves as a tribute but also contributes to the preservation of burial spaces in Dialgaye.
