CEG d’Ipala Students Undertake Library Construction Inspired by Faso Mªbo

Kindi: The students of the General Education College (CEG) in Ipala, located in the commune of Kindi in Boulkiemde province, have embarked on an ambitious project to construct a school library. This initiative is being driven by their own funds and community work, inspired by the national concept of "Faso Mªbo," which encourages self-reliance in building the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initial phase of the project is estimated to cost over one million FCFA, and support from well-wishers is being sought for its completion. The educational community of Ipala decided to take immediate action to create a reading environment for students, a vision that was quickly adopted by parents and the administration at the start of the school year.

Mr. Bernard Nitiema, the education officer, highlighted that the foundations of the building, already valued at over one million CFA francs, have been laid. To finance the construction, parents have agreed to contribute 2,500 CFA francs per student. With 200 students enrolled, a total of 150,000 CFA francs has already been collected.

On the construction site, there is a sense of collective mobilization. Students are participating in manual labor every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Mr. Clement Kabore, one of the project's founders, expressed confidence in the project's completion despite facing challenges.

However, the project initiators acknowledge the lack of substantial financial resources and construction materials as significant obstacles. They are appealing to the community and education sector partners for support to finish this "jewel," which promises to enhance the educational quality in Ipala.
