Centre-West: The household count for the 2025 Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Net (LLIN) distribution campaign kicked off this Sunday, June 22, 2025, in the seven health districts of the Centre-West region. This crucial step, in line with the established schedule, marks the beginning of intensive preparations to protect populations against malaria. Community-based enumeration (CD) teams are now deployed in the field, crisscrossing localities to register households.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the objective is to collect accurate data that will serve as a basis for the effective and equitable distribution of LLINs to the entire population of the region. Dr. Mohamed Karl-Anicet Kpoda, Regional Director of Health for the Centre-West region, emphasized the importance of this phase by personally visiting the field to observe the effectiveness of the operations and provide support to the grassroots teams. His presence demonstrates the regional health authorities' commitment to the success of this campaign.
Active and functional supervision is implemented at all levels, whether at the Health and Social Promotion Centers (CSPS)/Management Committees (CG), health districts, or at the regional and national levels. This system aims to guarantee the quality and reliability of the data collected.
In a message to members of the Regional Organizing Committee (CRO_MILDA), Dr. Kpoda emphasized the commitment and monitoring of each member to ensure the smooth running of the count. He reiterated that this phase is an "essential condition for the success of the LLIN distribution campaign in our region."
The mobilization of all stakeholders is essential to make this operation a success and strengthen the fight against malaria, an endemic disease that continues to weigh heavily on public health in Burkina Faso.
