Oudalan: The Chairman and CEO of Compagnie Oufene et Freres (COF), Oufene Ag Tiwara, has provided a borehole and a school garden to the General Education College (CEG) of Essakane, located in the province of Oudalan. This gesture aims to enhance the learning environment for the students at the institution.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Oufene Ag Tiwara made this donation on Saturday, emphasizing that the well and school garden are more than just physical contributions. They represent a vision of a self-reliant school that is deeply connected to its environment and focused on the future. During the handover ceremony, Mr. Tiwara highlighted the importance of investing in the education of children, promoting social peace, and upholding the dignity of communities.
Mr. Tiwara stressed that access to water and experiential learning are crucial for fostering responsible generations who understand the value of work, land, and community. He asserted that sustainable development begins with education and pledged the company's continued support for local initiatives that demonstrate seriousness, transparency, and responsibility.
The spokesperson for the beneficiaries, Ardjima Dambina, who is also the director of the Essakane CEG, expressed gratitude for the donation. He explained that the new well would address the shortage of drinking water faced by the staff and students, while the school garden would serve as an educational tool and empower the students.
Mr. Dambina also acknowledged other forms of support from Mr. Tiwara, such as funding vacation time for the 2020-2021 school year, providing sports jerseys, and acquiring a trophy for the Head of School Cup. He stated that these actions demonstrate a strong commitment to the education and well-being of the children, enhancing the quality of teaching, motivating learners, and improving staff working conditions.
The director called upon other promoters and economic operators in Essakane to emulate this example by investing in the education of children.
