Citizen Watch Organizes Civil-Military Race to Foster Unity in Bittou

Boulgou: The Citizen Watch is initiating a popular civil-military cross-country race in Bittou to strengthen social cohesion. On the eve of the departure of the territorial brigade of the gendarmerie from Bittou, the municipal coordination of the Citizen Watch, in collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), organized on Tuesday a popular civil-military cross-country race, with the aim of strengthening the union and social cohesion between populations and combat forces.

According to Burkina Information Agency, starting from Bittou town hall, the participants, comprised of administrative authorities, members of the security forces, and numerous civilians, marched through several of the city's streets in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor. All wearing jerseys in the national colors, they concluded the march with fitness exercises at the Citizen's Watch roundabout.

'Words fail us to describe the work that the Bittou gendarmerie has accomplished for more than forty years in service to the community. We particularly commend the determination of the current commander, who is always present alongside the youth in social and cultural cohesion activities,' said Moubarik Guessongo, president of the Bittou municipal coordination of Citizen Watch.

Visibly moved by the imminent departure of the brigade, Mr. Guessongo thanked all the participants for their patriotic commitment and their love of the country.

The commander of the Bittou territorial gendarmerie brigade, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the population for their unwavering support and resilience.

According to local authorities, the Bittou gendarmerie brigade will now be stationed in the rural commune of Yargatenga, approximately 49 kilometers away.
