Nayala: Members of the Patriotic Watch Movement of Faso, Yaba subsection, have inaugurated a roundabout in Yaba, serving as a citizen watch site. The ceremony was highlighted by the planting of four flags representing the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (ESA) – Burkina, Mali, and Niger – along with the flag of Russia, a strategic partner.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the organizers envision this roundabout as a symbol of unity and vigilance for peace and security within the community. During the event, the customary leader of Yaba, Pare Kôlea, praised the initiative, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism is not solely about military efforts. He urged every citizen to report suspicious activities that could aid terrorists and stressed the importance of communal support for achieving lasting peace.
Pare Lamine, the president of Yaba Citizens’ Watch, expressed his satisfaction with the roundabout’s establishment. He called upon the inhabitants of Yaba and surrounding villages to su
pport the youth in their civic responsibilities. The provincial president of the AVC of Nayala, Foro Jean Noël, also addressed the gathering. He reiterated the importance of uniting around the ideals of the Transition and supporting Captain Ibrahim Traore, who is seen as working for the nation’s benefit.
The ceremony concluded with the hoisting of flags at the roundabout, symbolizing the official commencement of citizen watch activities in Yaba. This act underscores the community’s commitment to securing their territory and enhancing social cohesion. The event witnessed participation from traditional authorities, local residents, and a provincial delegation, including Mr. Foro Jean Noël, president of the Citizen Watch Association (AVC) of Nayala, and Mr. Ky Thierry, president of the National Collective for the Refoundation (CNR) of Nayala.
