Kuala Lumpur:Zondoma In response to Minister Ismaël Sombié's call, residents from the villages of Bassi, Rondolga, and Kera-douré in Zondoma province have come together to support the construction of the Tougouyakoko dam. This community-driven initiative aims to assist the National Office of Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Developments (ONBAH) in overcoming delays and resuming work on the project.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the work on the dam had been temporarily halted due to delays, but has now resumed with the help of local volunteers. These volunteers are actively engaging in essential tasks, such as transporting earth for backfilling and cutting reinforcing steel, to expedite the construction process.
Ouindwaoga Koalga, the municipal coordinator for citizen oversight, has praised this initiative as a testament to the community's commitment to self-development. He noted that the mobilization is a "concrete response" that showcases the readiness of the people to directly engage in the completion of key municipal projects.
Mr. Koalga has also called upon other villages, associations, and the youth to join in this collective effort to ensure the project's success. The completion of the Tougouyakoko dam is considered vital for the region, as it will enhance water resource availability, boost market gardening and agricultural activities, and support local livestock farming.
