Colonel Koudbi Tago Assumes Command of Burkina Faso’s 3rd Gendarmerie Legion

Ouagadougou: Colonel Koudbi Florian Thophile Tago officially assumed command of the 3rd Gendarmerie Legion of Burkina Faso, committing to prioritize the protection of the population, enhance cohesion among forces combating terrorism, and foster a results-oriented culture.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the newly appointed commander has pledged to safeguard the population and uphold the general interest. He aims to bolster unity among gendarmes, Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the citizens, while establishing a results-driven approach to effectively meet both hierarchical and public expectations.

Colonel Tago emphasized his mission aligns with the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and the directives of the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, aiming to contribute to the fight against terrorism. He acknowledged the significance of his new responsibilities, which cover four major administrative regions of Burkina Faso, and stressed his commitment to serving the Nation.

The commander extended his gratitude to his predecessor, Colonel Issa Yaguibou, for his accomplishments leading the 3rd Legion, promising to maintain continuity to build on past successes and confront emerging security challenges.

Colonel Tago paid tribute to soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism, honoring their dedication to the Nation's defense. He appealed to administrative, judicial, military, customary, and religious authorities, along with other partners, to support the 3rd Legion in fulfilling its mission.

Additionally, he urged the residents of the regions under his command to continue backing the Defense and Security Forces and the VDP, assuring them that the doors of the 3rd Legion remain open to the community.
