Bougouriba/dolo: Community stakeholders and resource persons unite to save the ambulance Since the beginning of September 2025, the ambulance serving the municipality of Dolo has been out of service. The cause is a breakdown in the engine block, rendering it unusable according to the mechanic's diagnosis. The mechanic recommended replacing the defective engine block as the solution. The total cost of the replacement engine block, according to the mechanic, is estimated at at least 2,390,000 FCFA.
According to Burkina Information Agency, gathered around the ambulance's Management Committee (COGES), local stakeholders considered financing and maintenance mechanisms adapted to the local context to address the challenge. The return to service of the vehicle should facilitate medical evacuations to referral health centers and alleviate the suffering of patients.
The chairman of the COGES office of the ambulance service, Sami Brice Palm, proposed, after consultation, a participatory approach consisting of going to the different Health and Social Promotion Centers (CSPS) in order to group the villages by health area and to initiate community contributions.
Participants welcomed this approach, believing that community mobilization remains an effective lever for addressing local challenges and strengthening solidarity.
The municipal authorities have invited all stakeholders to support this initiative, convinced that the relaunch of the ambulance service will help save lives and improve access to care in the municipality.
