Complaint against employee Yvette Gnoumou: CCJ-Tuy solidarity, launches a campaign for the defendant

The Coordination of socio-professional bodies and youth associations (CCJ) of Tuy co-hosted with employees of the company Tropic Mining, on Saturday April 6, 2024, a press conference in Houndé. It aims to inform public opinion of the complaint against employee Yvette Gnoumou and launch a solidarity campaign to defend her.

The Coordination of socio-professional bodies and youth associations (CCJ) of Tuy contributed significantly to the lifting of the spontaneous work stoppage of employees of Houndé Gold Operation (HGO) and its subcontractors from 21 to January 31st.

This coordination disapproves of Tropic Mining’s complaint against Yvette Gnoumou, accused of defamatory remarks against her employer during this slogan.

To this end, she co-hosted with the employees of the said company a press conference on Saturday April 6, 2024 in Houndé to inform public opinion and launch a solidarity campaign with a view to ensuring the defense of Ms. Gnoumou.

According to the secretary general of the CCJ-Tuy, Brahima Diab
até, despite the negotiations which resulted in the resumption of work on February 1, 2024 , the company Tropic Mining filed a complaint against Yvette Gnoumou on the grounds that she would be the only one responsible of the mobilization of its workers in this spontaneous movement in addition to the defamatory remarks.

Through this legal action, Topic Mining demands payment of 550 million CFA francs from it for damages and costs incurred.

The CCJ-Tuy finds this complaint unfair, which, according to it, amounts to an attempt at retaliation to prevent all forms of ‘sincere’ demands within the company.

The organizers also took advantage of this conference to urge the population to show solidarity around Yvette Gnoumou.

To help him cover legal costs, they called on citizens to contribute financially via orange money on the number 67 84 41 31 in the name of Coulibaly Tamouan.

After the referrals of March 19 and April 2, 2024, the trial is scheduled for April 16 at the Boromo High Court.
