Completion of First Phase of Women’s Empowerment Project in Kaya Refugee Camps

Kaya: The first phase of a women's empowerment project in the Kaya refugee camps in Burkina Faso has been successfully completed. This initiative aims to transform the lives of displaced women by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities, thereby restoring their dignity.According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the project's successful completion was celebrated after a comprehensive process involving on-the-ground needs assessments and community engagement efforts. The event highlighted the dedication required to achieve this milestone.In his remarks, Mr. Khaled Mohamed Malloum, the OIC Representative and Liaison Officer of the OIC Regional Mission in Niger, discussed the two-year journey that led to this achievement. He emphasized that the project was rooted in the commitment made during the 2021 Ministerial Conference on Women held in Cairo, Egypt.The OIC representative announced that the OIC General Secretariat is looking forward to launching the second phase of the project, which will receive su pport from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa. The OIC remains committed to empowering women, children, refugee families, and internally displaced persons across Burkina Faso.The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed its warmest wishes to all project beneficiaries, with hopes that their income-generating projects will thrive and aid in the resilience and development of their communities.
