Ouagadougou:The Confederation of African Peoples for the Alliance of Sahel States (CPA-AES Diaspora) has launched a new initiative titled "One euro per month for the endogenous development of the AES space" in Ouagadougou. This citizen mobilization effort aims to gather contributions from one million individuals to fund development projects in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was announced at a press conference chaired by Comrade Aoua Camara, the coordinator of the CPA-AES Diaspora. Camara emphasized the goal of transforming the individual and often dispersed support of the African diaspora into a cohesive, organized, and sustainable force to benefit the development of the confederate space.
The initiative seeks to enlist one million contributors, each donating one euro per month. The potential outcome is the generation of one million euros monthly, equating to twelve million euros annually, pending the achievement of the target and after accounting for collection and management expenses.
Aoua Camara outlined that the funds raised will be allocated to four key areas agriculture and food sovereignty, education and innovation, peace and social cohesion, and cultural and cooperative exchanges among the peoples of the AES. Additionally, the CPA-AES Diaspora plans to leverage the skills and experiences of nationals living abroad, particularly in sectors such as health, engineering, education, digital technology, and entrepreneurship.
To maintain transparency, the initiative will feature dedicated accounts, financial control systems, regular publication of contributions and expenditures, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of funded projects. The coordinator also urged members of the diaspora, entrepreneurs, associations, and development partners to become part of this solidarity-driven movement.
This initiative is part of a broader twenty-five-year vision aimed at fostering economic sovereignty and the endogenous development of the peoples within the Alliance of Sahel States.
