Creation of the “Wassa Bondo” Fund to Support Sport and the Private Press

Ouagadougou: The Council of Ministers adopted a draft decree establishing the Support Fund for Sport and the Private Press, named 'Wassa Bondo', which translates to 'the granary of success' in the Dioula language.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the government has initiated a reform of the National Funds to address economic resilience, focusing on a better rationalization of public resources and simplification of financing mechanisms. This reform includes the merger of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sport and Leisure with the Fund for Support to the Private Press.

The new decree formalizes the creation of the FASP, tasked with financing the implementation of government policy on sport and leisure and supporting private press companies. The establishment of this fund aims to strengthen the coherence of public interventions, optimize the management of human and financial resources, and increase the impact of state actions in the sectors of sports, leisure, and the private press.
