Ouagadougou: The provincial director of communication, culture, arts and tourism (DPCCAT) of Ioba, Casimir Somda, led a training session on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, for those in charge of cultural activities in the Basic Education District (CEB) of Ouessa, on the supervision of competitive performances. Held in the town hall meeting room, this meeting aimed to strengthen the skills of cultural supervisors in order to improve the quality of performances during school competitions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director, Casimir Somda, highlighted that this initiative follows shortcomings observed in the supervision of previous performances during the finals of cultural activities. "The objective is to enable the troupes to meet the national standards in upcoming competitions," he stated.
During the session, participants were trained on the judging criteria for several disciplines, including traditional dance, traditional instrumental music, folk choirs, and ballet. Particular emphasis was placed on essential elements such as the number of dancers, adherence to performance time limits, stage design, choreography, and the promotion of cultural heritage. Explanatory diagrams were also used to facilitate understanding of the different modules.
Participants praised the relevance of the training. Inspector Hounzie Medah noted that the training provided a better understanding of the criteria and scoring system, as well as aspects that were previously unknown.
The first vice-president of the special municipal delegation of Ouessa, Bonaventure MwinfSon Medah, expressed his gratitude to the DPCCAT of Ioba for its efforts in promoting culture in the province. He also encouraged strong participation from the municipality in upcoming regional cultural events.
