Dafra Radiotherapy Center Inaugurated to Provide Specialized Cancer Care

Koudougou: The Dafra Radiotherapy Center is officially inaugurated: On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the President of Faso and current Chairman of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), Captain Ibrahim Traore, cut the ribbon marking the official commissioning of the Dafra Radiotherapy Center, to the great joy of the people.According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional health director of Guiriko, Issa Konate, emphasized that "the Dafra radiotherapy center will make it possible to offer adequate care to people suffering from cancerous diseases." This development marks a significant advancement in healthcare provision within the region.For Olivier Constantin Sanou, coordinator of the project to build the University Hospital and Radiotherapy Center in Bobo-Dioulasso, this center is the first of its kind in the Greater West region, exclusively dedicated to the treatment of cancers. He highlighted that "this infrastructure will strengthen the technical health facilities and, above all, relieve patient s who were previously forced to travel long distances to the capital to receive specialized care."The Dafra Radiotherapy Center comprises two bunkers housing linear accelerators for external beam radiotherapy, a bunker dedicated to brachytherapy, a simulation scanner, as well as administrative offices and consultation rooms. The total cost of constructing this infrastructure is estimated at approximately 9.8 billion CFA francs.
