Dakola: The Minister of Industry, Trade and Crafts Serge Gnaniodem Poda, along with the Minister of Basic Education Jacques Sosthene Dingara, officially inaugurated the heavy goods vehicle parking lot and launched border invoicing in Dakola, located in the Center-South region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony marked the commissioning of the Dakola parking lot, which spans an area of 25,000 square meters. The project underscores the government's commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. Minister Serge Gnaniodem Poda highlighted that the parking area responds to essential needs of the business community, including exporters, importers, freight forwarders, carriers, public administration, and the general public.
"It will allow all these stakeholders to work in a healthy and secure environment," stated the minister. The parking lot is the initial phase of a development project that is expected to cover 17 hectares, with a budget of approximately 4.5 billion CFA francs. This initiative aligns with the Action Plan for Stabilization and Development (PASD).
The Minister of Trade emphasized the need for compliance with the rules in using the new infrastructure and the border invoicing system. Regional Director of Customs for the Center-South, Andr©a Bertille Derra/Kalmogho, and President of the Transit Association, Samuel Tahoura, noted that the new facilities address a significant challenge for stakeholders in the trade chain.
Seydou Tou, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCIBF), remarked that the innovations support the government's vision to streamline trade, ensure transparency, and promote healthy competition among economic actors.
The ceremony began with a blessing from the Dakola chief and a minute of silence to honor civilian and military victims. Following the inauguration, Ministers Poda and Dingara visited Manga, the capital of the Centre-South region, to discuss new challenges and expectations with decentralized commerce actors. They also toured the Lafina soap manufacturing plant designed by Dr. Patrice Bazongo.
