Dano Health District: Encouraging Results but Difficulties Sustained

The first 2023 ordinary session of the District Health Council (CSD) of Dano, held on August 24, 2023, showed satisfactory performance for all 50 health facilities in the locality. However, problems of ambulance breakdowns, lack of ambulance drivers, non-functional boreholes and non-renewal of the members of the offices of certain COGES, weigh down the indicators.

The High Commissioner for Ioba Province, Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé presided over the first regular session of the year 2023 of the Dano District Health Council (CSD) on Thursday August 24, 2023.

At this first ordinary session of the CSD of Dano, the members examined the status of implementation of the recommendations of the CSD of 2022 presented by the Chief Medical Officer of the Health District (MCD) of Dano, Dr Salam Mandé. The head of the Center for Health Information and Epidemiological Surveillance (CISSE), Adama Soré made two presentations on the performance indicators of the Dano health district in the first half of 2023 and the epidemiological situation.

The district of Dano has 46 public health facilities and 04 private / denominational, making a total of 50 health facilities.

According to the CISSE chief of Dano, the performance indicators are encouraging compared to the same period of 2022.

It also announces that the district during these first six months has not reached the epidemiological threshold for any pathology.

The MCD also provided an update on the status of health partner interventions in Ioba province.

All these presentations were followed by discussions with the participants.

The members of the Dano CSD had discussions on the difficulties / constraints of the Dano health district related to the management of ambulances in the eight (08) municipalities of Ioba and management committees (COGES) of health and promotion centers social (CSPS).

It appears that certain problems prevent the renewal of office members of some COGES.

The support of the prefects was requested to facilitate these renewals for the proper functioning of the CSPS.

With regard to ambulances, we note that those of Guéguéré, Niégo and one of Dissihn are not functional.

Only the municipality of Dissihn has recruited an ambulance driver. The others are volunteers without statutory remuneration.

In view of the successive increase in the price of fuel and the costs of evacuations (100 francs per kilometer for cases excluding free admission) which have remained unchanged, cause serious difficulties in being able to make the return transport (trip).

Proposals to increase to 120 francs have been made and submitted for the approval of the highest administrative and health authorities before its application.

Problems of defective housing and non-functional boreholes were mentioned for some CSPS with proposed solutions.

It was suggested to take into account internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the statistics, especially in the CSPS of Orpoune and Poulèba in the commune of Oronkua.

These two health facilities have received more than 3,800 IDPs, which has created a real shortage of personnel.

The municipality of Guéguéré needs a new ambulance because its injured ambulance will not be compensated.

The MCD of the health district of Dano, Dr. Mandé thanked the participants for their contribution to the improvement of the health of the populations.

For him, suggestions are always welcome and the district management team remains receptive to constructive criticism for the improvement of services and benefits.

The Ioba High Commissioner congratulated Dr. Salam Mandé on his appointment as MCD of Dano. Bernadette Adenyo encouraged the PDS to hold consultation meetings with the head nurses (ICP) in order to iron out various difficulties at the base.

She thanked the members of the CSD for their active participation and attendance at this meeting.

To the PDS prefects, she praised the sacrifices made and the constant support for the functioning of health facilities.

Mrs. Adenyo insisted once again on proper maintenance of ambulances. The first official of the province of Ioba congratulated the managers of the health facilities for the good transmission of the data and all the staff of the district for the work done.

She invited the various administrative, associative and religious structures to organize blood donation sessions to compensate for the lack of this precious liquid in order to save lives.
