Gado: The educational community of the Gado public primary school, located in the commune of Pouni, vibrated to the rhythm of academic excellence on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, despite a difficult context marked by school dropouts, the institution was keen to honor the merit, perseverance, and good work of its students. Presenting the end-of-year report, the school’s director, Kor¨ Eliou, highlighted the challenges the school faced. The year was particularly disrupted by 20 cases of students dropping out to work in the gold mining area of Baganapoun, located just 5 km from Gado. For example, out of an initial group of 26 students, 9 chose to leave and join the gold mining operations.

Despite this significant drop in enrollment, the remaining students demonstrated remarkable resilience. In the 2026 CEP exam, the school achieved a brilliant score of 16 out of 17 candidates passing, representing an exceptional success rate of 94.11%.

Several speeches punctuated the ceremony, all converging towards the same ideal: to express the community’s gratitude towards educational stakeholders and to encourage young people to persevere in their schooling. In turn, the following people spoke: the chief of the village of Gado, guarantor of traditions and the well-being of children; the president of the school council, spokesperson for the parents; the school director, Comrade Kor¨ Eliou; the representative of the CCEB, Comrade Ti©mtor© Boukary.

To crown these efforts and encourage the students’ dedication, the best among them received school kits. This celebration ends on a note of great satisfaction for the educational community, proud to have met the challenge of excellence despite adversity, and to provide valuable support to parents with limited financial resources.
