Death of the Grand Imam of Dedougou: El Hadj Famata Almamy Traore Passes Away


Ouagadougou: The Grand Imam of Dedougou, El Hadj Famata Almamy Traore, passed away on the morning of Monday, November 3, 2025, in Ouagadougou, following an illness.



According to Burkina Information Agency, El Hadj Famata Almamy Traore was known for his wisdom, humility, and high sense of duty to the community. For many years, he guided the faithful with dedication, advocating tolerance, solidarity, and living together in a national context marked by security and social challenges.



The Grand Imam also collaborated with religious and administrative authorities to promote interreligious dialogue and peacebuilding in the region. His tireless commitment to social cohesion and the preservation of spiritual values made him a moral reference, listened to and respected by all.

According to the established program, the lifting of the body took place tonight in Ouagadougou before the transfer of the remains to Dedougou, where the burial is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 2 p.m.
