Dibougou Teachers’ Conference Focuses on Curriculum Integration and Local Relevance

Dibougou:Teachers from the Basic Education District of Dibougou commenced their pedagogical conference on October 7, 2026, with a focus on enhancing professional skills and improving classroom practices.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the four-day conference is centered around two key themes "Development and exploitation of integration situations" and "Endogeinization of curricula," particularly in history, geography, and civic and moral education. The main theme aims to equip teachers with the skills to transform classroom knowledge into practical skills for learners, while the secondary theme focuses on aligning teaching with the socio-cultural realities of the Burkinabè context.

The event was inaugurated by Aim Oudraogo, president of the special delegation of Dibougou, and attended by Adelphe Moss, provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education, as well as Bonko Gnihan, head of the CEB of Dibougou. Trainers and teachers were also present.

During the opening, a message from the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages was read, emphasizing teachers' role in implementing educational reforms and contributing to forming a "new citizen." Teachers were encouraged to fully engage with the training, highlighting their crucial role in shaping future citizens.

Thomas d'Aquin Mda, headmaster of Bamako A public primary school, commended the conference themes for aligning with the current educational direction and fostering local content development. He stressed the importance of education in patriotism and national development.

Ini Laurentine Hien, a certified primary school teacher, highlighted the importance of the main theme, noting that despite previous training, some teachers find it challenging to implement integration strategies. She believes revisiting these concepts will strengthen classroom practices.

The conference, involving over 400 teachers, features training sessions hosted at various locations, including schools in Dibougou, and will conclude on October 10, 2026.
