Diocese of Gaoua/Batie Mobilizes Over 250 Youth for Diocesan Youth Days

Batie: The town of Batie experienced a vibrant gathering from Thursday, March 26 to Sunday, March 29, 2026, as more than 250 young people came together for the diocesan youth days organized by the Diocese of Gaoua. The event, themed "Young witnesses of hope in a world in crisis," united participants from various parishes with a shared goal.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event spanned over four days filled with prayer, training, and fellowship. The highlight was the closing Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, March 29, 2026, which coincided with Palm Sunday and the Passion of Christ. The mass was celebrated by Bishop Modeste Kambou of the Diocese of Gaoua, with numerous priests, religious, and faithful in attendance.

During his homily, Bishop Kambou emphasized the vital role of youth in both society and the Church. He cautioned against societal excesses such as alcoholism, drug use, laziness, the relentless pursuit of money, and sexual promiscuity, which threaten the youth today. He reminded attendees that young people are a source of wealth and hope for the future.

Addressing these challenges, Bishop Kambou issued a call to action for a renewed commitment from young people. He urged them to become agents of social and spiritual transformation by serving the Church and contributing to the building of a peaceful, cohesive, and united Burkina Faso.

Bishop Kambou also stressed the importance of resurgence among the youth, encouraging them to display dynamism, vitality, and responsibility to truly embody hope in a world facing numerous crises.
