Koudougou: The Diocese of Koudougou is hosting the first session of the National Council of Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) from November 4 to 6, 2025, marking the beginning of the current pastoral year's activities at the Unitas Centre.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Pontifical Mission Societies serve as the Church's central body for organizing and supporting missions worldwide, with a presence in all parishes. The structure of PMS revolves around four distinct works: the Missionary Childhood Work (OEM), focusing on children's missionary awakening; the Pontifical Missionary Union (UPM), dedicated to the formation and support of pastoral agents; the Work of Saint Peter the Apostle (OSPA), which finances and supports ecclesiastical formation houses; and the Work of the Propagation of the Faith (OPF), responsible for organizing the Missionary Month.

This council assembles diocesan leaders from these four works across the Burkina-Niger Episcopal Conference. The event is supervised by the national director of the OPM, Father Isidore Nombre, alongside the accompanying Bishop, Bishop Theophile Nare.

Approximately sixty participants from all dioceses are expected to engage in three days of intensive work, focusing on developing and preparing educational documents crucial to the mission. The session will conclude on Thursday, November 6th, with a solemn Eucharistic celebration at 6:00 PM at the Cathedral, attended by the parish community.
