Ouagadougou: Director, producer, and promoter of Clap en herbe, Oumarou Kabor©, launched the Clap Tour project on Thursday at the Dr. Bruno Buchwieser vocational high school in Ouagadougou. The project aims to teach students about cinema in order to awaken their taste for the profession and prepare the next generation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Oumarou Kabor©'s passion for teaching cinema to students was born in 2017 during an exercise with students who wanted to "understand how a film is made and how a script is written." Mr. Kabor© explained that this experience inspired the creation of the project to help students understand the different stages of film production and, through it, prepare the next generation of Burkina's cinema.

In Mr. Kabor©'s view, Clap Tour involves showing awareness films in high schools to make students aware of the dangers linked to certain practices, including incivility, drugs, plan Z (early and risky sexuality), and alcoholism. The enthusiasm for the Clap en herbe concept has led to promises of extending the project to other provinces.

Mr. Kabor© expressed gratitude towards school leaders and authorities who support and encourage the students' participation in the Clap en herbe activities. Bague Biy©, the principal of the Dr. Bruno Buchwieser vocational high school, praised the initiative for its potential to inspire students to create their own societal narratives through film.

Mr. Biy© noted that the screenings convey messages that can positively impact students' lives and promote awareness, ultimately encouraging behavioral change for societal improvement. He expressed hope that the initiative would continue to grow, enabling students to become real film actors and contribute to societal growth and development.

Clap en herbe is now in its 9th edition, while the Clap Tour component is in its 6th edition. It is organized by Zama Vision, an association that has been supporting Clap en herbe since 2017.
