Mogtedo: The provincial directors and heads of services of Ganzourgou, along with the prefects of the departments, embarked on a visit to the Orezone Bombore SA gold mine site in the commune of Mogtedo. The visit was organized by the association of provincial directors and heads of services.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation departed from Zorgho at around 7:50 am and arrived at the site at approximately 8:50 am, following a brief stop in Mogtedo to collect local authorities. Upon arrival, the mine's management, led by General Manager Ousseni Derra, welcomed the delegation warmly.
In a reception room, Mr. Derra delivered a welcome address to the visitors, expressing appreciation for the initiative and extending New Year wishes to the provincial authorities. Ms. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, the province's high commissioner, reciprocated the greetings and emphasized the visit's purpose as a means for administrative staff to relax and de-stress after a year of work. She also underscored the importance of understanding the framework of an administration partner.
The day's schedule was adjusted to include presentations by the general manager and his team, covering aspects such as operation, planning, exploration, processing plant, and environmental management. Visitors also underwent a safety induction to understand the behaviors required on the mining site.
Guided by the mine's departmental heads, the delegation toured several key areas, including the meteorological station, wastewater treatment basin, landfill, operating pit, treatment plant, tailings dam, community resettlement site at Bombore V2, and the community farm for relocated women.
At the conclusion of the visit, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Managing Director and his team for their hospitality. She requested greater support from the mine's administrative services and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to supporting the company's activities. Ousseni Derra, the general manager, expressed his gratitude to the authorities and reiterated the mine's willingness to collaborate with administrative services.
Participants of the outing conveyed their satisfaction, applauding the initiative and expressing appreciation for the opportunity to witness the operations of a gold production company firsthand.
