Kossi/Sport: Djibasso team wins social cohesion trophy As part of its activities, OCADES Caritas Nouna and the parish of Djibasso organized a football match this Saturday, May 24, 2025, to promote social cohesion and living together. The Djibasso team won against the internally displaced persons team by 1 goal to 0.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final of the football match aimed at promoting social cohesion and unity saw the Djibasso team triumph. They secured their victory by scoring a penalty in the first half, ending the match with a score of 1 goal to 0 against the team of internally displaced persons.
Herman Dabou and his teammates made several attempts to equalize the score, but the strong defense of the opposing team successfully thwarted their efforts.
During the trophy presentation ceremony, Father Alexandre Taro emphasized the importance of social cohesion and solidarity within the community. He highlighted that the match exemplified the harmonious relationship between host populations and internally displaced persons, urging everyone to strengthen their bonds for the well-being of the community.
The Djibasso team, referred to as the victorious Doko© team, received their prize from Father Alexandre Taro. The second prize was presented by Pascal Coulibaly, Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Djibasso.
This football match is part of a series of activities under the OCADES EA19/2024 Central Sahel project, which includes providing food to internally displaced persons, distributing nutritional supplements to malnourished children, and organizing a women's cycling race.
Father Alexandre Taro announced the continuation of activities under the project. A tribute was also paid to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the commune of Djibasso for their dedication in combating threats and assisting in the resettlement of certain villages.
