Dori: As part of the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the National Armed Forces, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the Sahel region laid a wreath of flowers on the tomb of the unknown soldier at the Dori military cemetery on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this symbolic ceremony was marked by profound solemnity. Through this wreath-laying, the FDS and the VDP paid tribute to all the combatants who fell on the field of honor in defense of the Burkinabe nation. The participants observed a moment of silence in memory of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the security and sovereignty of Burkina Faso. Organizers noted that this act reflects the nation’s gratitude to its worthy sons and daughters, while also recalling the value of patriotism and selflessness.
Following the ceremony, a blood drive was organized at the Dori military infirmary. This initiative aims to contribute to the care of the wounded and sick. Captain Woulikoun Dabire, the doctor in charge of the operation, indicated that this initiative addresses the urgent need to replenish the local blood bank’s supplies. He urged the troops to donate blood with pride, noting that approximately 250 units are expected at the end of the collection.
Amado Nana, a biomedical technologist at the Dori blood product depot and distributor, stated that this blood drive is timely. He believes it will replenish reserves and meet the growing demands of hospital services. He specified that this period is marked by numerous cases of malaria and anemia, especially among children hospitalized in pediatrics.
Through these acts of tribute and solidarity, the FDS and VDP of the Sahel reaffirmed their commitment to serving the nation. By honoring the memory of their fallen brothers-in-arms and working to save lives, they demonstrate the values of bravery, fraternity, and dedication that underpin the identity of the National Armed Forces of Burkina Faso.
