Kongoussi: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ou©draogo, congratulated the Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Bam on Wednesday for the successful organization of the "Consume Local" day, held as part of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized within the premises of the Kongoussi 1 and 2 Basic Education Districts (CEB) and attracted a large crowd to promote local cuisine. The day featured culinary displays and tastings of traditional dishes and natural juices made from non-timber forest products.
The event also included board games such as p©tanque, scrabble, and checkers, contributing to a friendly atmosphere. High Commissioner Karim Ou©draogo praised the initiative, calling it an exemplary approach to promoting local consumption. He expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and the quality of the products on display.
Karim Ou©draogo stated, "I congratulate the DPEPPNF of Bam and all its staff for the quality of the organization. It is remarkable work that deserves to be commended." He encouraged the population to buy local and support national products.
The provincial director of the DPEPPNF of Bam, Naba Ilboudo, welcomed the enthusiasm of the participants and emphasized the importance of education in promoting civic behavior. "Through this activity, we want to raise awareness among learners and educational communities about the importance of consuming local products, both nutritionally and economically," he explained.
Among the exhibitors, Nomwend© Francheline Sawadogo expressed her satisfaction, noting, "I prepared some babenda, but before 3 p.m., it was all gone," highlighting the strong interest of participants in local products.
The event is part of several activities, including the daily raising of the national flag and the wearing of traditional outfits by the workers of the DPEPPNF during the two weeks of this first fortnight.
