Dr Salam Mandé, new chief medical officer of the Dano health district, has been installed

Dano, The High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Bernadette Adenyo, née Sermé, officially installed the new chief medical officer of the Dano health district, Dr Salam Mandé, on Tuesday October 10, 2023 in Dano. The meeting room at the Dano High Commission was crowded during the handover between the chief doctors entering and leaving the Dano health district. Health workers, parents, bodies from Ioba province, colleagues from the southwest region and friends took part in the installation of the new chief medical officer of Dano.

Dr Salam Mandé, general practitioner, was appointed head of the Dano health district in August 2023. The new chief doctor had already held the position in the interim for more than a year. He benefited from the support of all stakeholders in the Ioba province during this period preceding his appointment. This is why he thanked them and once again requested their commitment to support him in order to meet other major challenges to improve the health of the population.

To the attention of the members of the district management team (ECD), Salam Mandé recalled that they were his technical advisors. He urged them to remain united and redouble their efforts to demonstrate creativity and innovation towards improving the performance indicators of the district. He also requested their contribution to accelerating the processing of health personnel files and the implementation of regional and national instructions. Mr. Mandé invited all health workers to demonstrate professionalism, to respect the public good and the hierarchy.

The new chief physician replaces Dr Bernard Wendlamita Sawadogo in this position, admitted to a professional specialist competition. Dr Sawadogo spent eight years in Ioba province, including five years as chief medical officer of Dano. According to him, satisfactory results were obtained during his mandate. He listed, among other things, the acquisition of logistical means, bringing care closer to the populations by going from 39 health facilities to 46, strengthening the technical platform, eliminating lymphatic filariasis in the district and obtaining of certain prices. Bernard Sawadogo underlines that these results are the result of the support of all stakeholders in the fight against the disease and the improvement of the health of the population. He thanked the provincial authorities, the regional health directorate team and the other chief doctors of the South West who were his guides. He invited them to support the chief doctor taking up his new role.

As for the regional director of public health and hygiene of the South West, Dr Bakary Traoré, he congratulated the incoming chief medical officer and thanked Bernard Sawadogo for his contribution to improving the health of the population of Ioba. “Health is everyone’s business,” he stressed. This is why he thanked the administration and the defense and security forces for their support for the operation of health services. Mr. Traoré urged health workers to communicate well with patients to obtain appreciable results.

Ioba High Commissioner Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé acknowledged the sacrifice of health workers in the district. She praised their commitment and self-sacrifice to work under the leadership of the outgoing and incoming chief doctors. Ms. Adenyo thanked Dr. Sawadogo for the work accomplished for the benefit of the populations. She announced that the new chief medical officer needed the support of all stakeholders to move health services forward. The first official of the Ioba province invited the members of the ECD to a sacred union in order to achieve consensual decision-making for the smooth running of the activities of the Dano health district. “All members of the established bodies, daughters and sons of the Ioba province are invited to provide their support to Dr. Salam Mandé for the success of his mission,” she concluded.
