The event featured an opening speech by the regional director of the national police, Jo«l Sanou, a fun run followed by a 45-minute aerobics session, all in a festive and friendly atmosphere, before the presentation of certificates of recognition to individuals who had contributed to the promotion of sports.
In his address, Mr. Sanou expressed gratitude to all the guests for honoring the National Police with their presence. He highlighted the importance of regular physical activity and sports for the daily missions of the defense and security forces. This demonstrates how much sport contributes to maintaining physical and mental well-being, strengthening team spirit, and preparing officers for the demands of their noble mission," he stated.
The resumption of sporting activities will be marked throughout 2026 by the organization of a weekly sports session every Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m., as well as monthly or quarterly cross-country races at the regional level. Physical activities are not limited to cross-country running and aerobics sessions, but also include football, volleyball, handball, military ball games, and track and field. Mr. Sanou also congratulated the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) team on their victory in the first edition of the High Commissioner of Zoundweogo Cup, held on August 2, 2025, a symbol of unity and cohesion among the forces.
Divisional Commissioner Jo«l Sanou concluded by proposing a monthly regional cross-country race for the Manga FDS, organized on a rotating basis, to strengthen camaraderie, cohesion, and esprit de corps in the fight against terrorism and crime in all its forms. "This activity will constitute a partnership between the sports officers, the Regional Directorate of Sports and the one in charge of Culture and Arts of Nazinon," he stressed.
