Education Initiatives in Pouni Enhance Security and Peace Culture


Pouni: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Pouni has successfully concluded a four-day training session aimed at enhancing the quality of education through a focus on security and peace culture.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the seminar, which ran from June 15 to June 17, equipped 40 education stakeholders with vital tools such as EQAmE (Quality Child-Friendly School), the “Safe School” concept, and peace education. The participants included 24 teachers and 16 members of School Councils from 8 different establishments.



Throughout the training, attendees engaged in a dozen essential modules covering non-violent conflict management, child protection and safety, improving the school climate, and the technical development of school security plans. The training aimed to empower educators to foster environments conducive to both safety and learning.



At the closing ceremony, participant spokesperson Thomas Bassol©, a teacher, pledged to disseminate the acquired knowledge among colleagues and within schools, ensuring a multiplier effect. Issiaka Simpor© commended the participants’ active involvement and emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge to transform schools into safe, high-performing institutions.



Bahini Edmon Coulibaly, Head of the Pouni Basic Education Center, expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s partnership in this initiative and committed to implementing rigorous monitoring to assess the impact once classes resume. Coulibaly emphasized the broader vision of creating educational environments that promote well-being, social cohesion, solidarity, and cooperation.



Participants expressed a unanimous desire to see the training extended across all district schools, aligning with the RPP ideal of training quality individuals for sovereignty.
