Education Stakeholders in Pissila Encouraged to Implement School Gardens and Fields

Sandbondtenga: Education stakeholders in Pissila are being called upon to promote food independence through the establishment of school gardens and fields. This initiative is in line with the theme of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), as highlighted by Moussa Evariste Ouedraogo, the regional director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DREPPNF) of Koulse.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the call was made during a national colours-raising ceremony held at the Touri primary school in the Pissila 1 Basic Education District (CEB). The event witnessed the participation of students, teachers, parents, and several education sector officials, including the provincial director in charge of primary education.

Ouedraogo commended the resilience and dedication of education stakeholders in Pissila during challenging times. He echoed the sentiments of President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, urging those in the education system to foster a culture of change within schools. "From now on, school gardens and fields must become a reality in our schools," Ouedraogo emphasized.

The DREPPNF also encouraged parents to support local school canteens by contributing cereals and other locally harvested products. "The time for importing cereals into our schools is over. Consuming local products is the only way to food independence," Ouedraogo asserted.

Tambi Zouma, the president of the special delegation of Pissila, noted that the presence of high-ranking regional education officials serves as motivation for educational actors in the commune to intensify their efforts in their educational duties and in executing the directives issued by the Head of State.
