El Hadj Boukar© Koudougou Appointed Head of Tenkodogo Muslim Community Amid Calls for Unity

Tenkodogo: El Hadj Boukar© Koudougou has been elected as the head of the Muslim community in Tenkodogo, following a ceremony at the Grand Mosque of Sector 5. The event was presided over by El Hadj Amado Bambara, the president of the council of elders. This appointment marks the beginning of a new era for the community, which is focusing on unity, responsibility, and collective commitment after twelve years under the previous office.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the election of El Hadj Boukar© Koudougou was based on a consensus-driven process. Koudougou, a businessman and member of the Nakamb© employers' association, will serve a renewable five-year term alongside a team of approximately thirty members. In his inaugural address, he expressed gratitude to Allah and acknowledged the support and mobilization of the faithful, which facilitated the smooth transition of leadership.

The outgoing president, El Hadj Ousmane Balima, thanked the community for the trust they placed in him during his tenure. He pledged continued service to the cause of Islam in Tenkodogo and encouraged former board members to assist the new team. El Hadj Adama Koudougou, the deputy head of Islamic affairs for the new office, emphasized that the leadership's role is to guide collaboratively, addressing the challenges facing the Ummah.

The community remains committed to a significant project: constructing a large regional mosque in Tenkodogo. This R+3 type building project will require the active involvement and mobilization of the region's people. During the ceremony, Harouna Porne, Secretary General of CERFI, commended the dedication of the electoral college and organizing committee and highlighted the importance of responsibility within Islam.

The event concluded with prayers led by the Grand Imam and other elders. In a unified appeal, the newly appointed president urged the community to maintain unity and actively participate in collective efforts, underscoring that the enduring influence of Tenkodogo's Muslim community hinges on solidarity and cooperation.
