Ouagadougou: The canton of Djibo is plunged into mourning following the death of its Emir on Tuesday in Ouagadougou, after an illness.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Emir was a major figure in the Djelgodji region and was enthroned in 1987, succeeding his father. For nearly forty years, he led the traditional chieftaincy with wisdom, serenity, and dedication. Several generations grew up under his authority, marked by his commitment to dialogue and his attachment to local values.

In addition to his traditional role, the distinguished deceased also served the nation as a member of the National Assembly, representing the Soum province. According to a family source, the burial is scheduled for tomorrow in Djibo, his hometown, where relatives, elders, and the community are gathering to pay him their final respects.

The disappearance of this great baobab leaves a deep void within the traditional chieftaincy and all the inhabitants of Djelgodji, who lose a guide, an advisor, and a man of peace.
