FAPP Enhances Journalists’ Skills in Image Reporting Journalism

Tenkodogo: The city of Zoungrantenga hosted the official opening of a training session in image reporting journalism for private media professionals this Tuesday. This initiative, led by the Private Press Support Fund (FAPP), with the support of WBI Bank and the Higher Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (ISTIC), aims to equip journalists and technicians with skills adapted to current technological and economic challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in his opening address, Yacouba Diakite, Regional Director of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism for Nakambe, welcomed participants from the Nakambe, Gulmu, Nazinon, and Sirba regions. He praised the favorable conditions surrounding the meeting. “Your stay is off to a good start. The rain that fell during the night is a sign of clemency and hope. We are confident that this training will take place under good conditions,” he said.

FAPP Director General Daniel Bonzi reiterated that building the capacity of media professionals is a key mission of his institution. He highlighted the importance of image journalism, which allows journalists to write, film, direct, and edit their own productions. This versatility, he said, represents a major innovation, while also helping to reduce costs and improve the competitiveness of media companies.

For her part, ISTIC Director General Dr. Alizeta Compaore/Ouoba indicated that the choice of this theme meets the current demands of the profession. “Today, a well-rounded journalist must be able to film, edit, and write their article. It is a modern requirement and a professional necessity,” she emphasized. She specified that the modules, spread over three days, will allow participants to acquire the essential foundations to become independent and efficient in their practice.

The Tenkodogo session, which follows those organized in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, reflects the desire of the FAPP and its partners to contribute to the emergence of modern journalism, adapted to market realities and technological developments.

Regional Communications Director Diakite urged participants to take full advantage of this opportunity. ‘Be attentive and receptive, because the knowledge gained from this training will be useful to you throughout your career,’ he insisted.

With this renewed commitment, the FAPP and ISTIC reaffirm their desire to support Burkinabe media professionals, in order to offer them effective tools to better inform, educate and raise awareness among the population.
