Faustin Si University Promotes Local Consumption Among Students

Djôrô:Faustin Si University held a flag-raising ceremony as part of the third National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation. The event encouraged students to prioritize local products to support national production efforts.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by Dr. Gaston Dabir, the Vice-President in charge of teaching and educational innovations, representing the university president. The activities are part of a series planned from October 2 to 16, 2026, focusing on patriotic engagement and civic participation.

President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, emphasized the importance of local production, processing, and consumption in a message presented to the students. Dr. Dabir highlighted the initiative's aim to raise student awareness and appreciation for Burkina Faso's products.

The campaign seeks to engage students in local consumption as part of the broader effort central to this year's JEPPC. Activities will include a session for sharing experiences between students and holders of indigenous knowledge to foster exchanges around local practices.

A public conference is scheduled for October 16, themed "Let's produce Burkinabè, let's consume Burkinabè," with a tasting of local dishes following the event. Students are also invited to participate in the Faso Mêbo work on the Gaoua site on October 17, enhancing their civic engagement and support for local products.
