Niaogho: The commune of Niaogho hosted the second edition of the Nakambe Festival (FESTINA) from November 28 to 30, 2025. This initiative, spearheaded by Mr. Issouf Guebre, aimed to promote Bissa cultural heritage and strengthen social cohesion. For three days, sporting activities, panel discussions, cultural visits, blood drives, and artistic performances engaged the local population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the women's cycling race, which opened the festival, was launched by the prefect of Niaogho, Mr. Karim Sana. The top three participants received prizes awarded at the end of the competition.
A panel discussion on social cohesion was then held at the Niaogho cultural center, calling on the population to strengthen community ties. A second panel focused on the central theme of FESTINA 2025: "Bissa Heritage and Culture".
The Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Mr. Yacouba Zabre Gouba, sponsor of the edition, cut the ribbon, alongside the Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Adama Luc Sorgho, and the Governor of the Nakambe region, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana.
In his speech, Minister Gouba praised the promoter's initiative and encouraged the continuation of the festival.
Naaba Wobgo II, chief of Niaogho, congratulated the initiator and invited his collaborators to work towards the sustainability of the event.
The festival evenings brought together several modern and traditional artists, including Awa Boussim, KeZi, Idak Bassave, Nourou Sare aka Petit Marteau, as well as the artistic godmother Mai Lengani.
Festival-goers also participated in visits to the Niaogho Museum and other cultural sites. Alongside these activities, a blood drive and cervical cancer screening were organized in collaboration with staff from the local health center.
The population, made up of men, women, and young people, turned out in large numbers to take part in the various activities on the program.
According to the organizing committee, FESTINA aims to promote Bissa culture, enhance local heritage and contribute to strengthening social cohesion in the commune of Niaogho.
The organizers intend to continue efforts to make this event a sustainable cultural event for the benefit of the people.
