Boulkiemde: The International Basketball Federation Foundation (FIBA Foundation) introduced the 'Basketball For Good' program at the Nando Regional Sports Directorate in Koudougou with the intention of enhancing the involvement of young girls in basketball within the city.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the project is spearheaded by Camille Tapsoba, who is responsible for overseeing the initiative and managing the trio of companies selected for its execution. This program strives to promote basketball globally, with Koudougou being the sole focus in Burkina Faso out of 332 applications, 72 of which were chosen.

The program is set to run from November 8 to December 27, 2025, aiming to train 200 to 250 girls from institutions like Saint-Joseph Moukassa College, Sainte-Monique, Schorge, and the regional sports directorate, which will act as a central point. Issaka Gustave Nikiema, president of the Boulkiemde basketball district and a physical education teacher, expressed gratitude for this initiative, acknowledging the challenges faced in engaging girls with basketball.

Bako Manuella, a high school student at Saint-Joseph Moukassa College, views this initiative as a valuable opportunity, encouraging her peers to participate. Training sessions are scheduled every Wednesday and Saturday. Camille Tapsoba expressed appreciation towards the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, along with technical and private partners like Infinix and Tiek Noogo, for their support. He also called for additional partners to join the cause to further advance women's sports.

Besides sports training, the program incorporates civic awareness activities in partnership with the gendarmerie. The closing event on December 27, 2025, promises to be an exciting conclusion to the initiative, as per the organizers.
