Ouagadougou: The fifteenth edition of the Dialogue of Bodies Festival commenced in Ouagadougou under the theme "The Human," bringing together 90 artists from across the region to foster social cohesion through listening, unity, and solidarity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival, organized by the La Termitiere Choreographic Development Center (CDC), aims to strengthen community bonds and encourage active listening among people. Salia Sanou, director of the CDC, emphasized the importance of these values during the festival's opening, highlighting the need for unity and solidarity to benefit the community.

The festival features participants from Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso, performing over a week in the Burkinabe capital. Sanou noted that 28 dance and music shows involving 90 artists and 20 groups from the participating countries are scheduled, showcasing the spirit of collaboration despite challenges.

The festival's theme, "The Human," explores the essence of humanity and the importance of forming a community. As part of the event, morning conversations between artists and dancers, along with cross-dance and theatre workshops, have been introduced to enhance dialogue and engagement.

Marguerite Doannio/Sou, the representative of the Minister of Culture and patron of the festival, highlighted the historical significance of the Desire Bonogo People's Theatre as a venue that embodies the values of integrity, honor, and solidarity. She emphasized the festival's theme resonates deeply with the current challenges facing Burkina Faso, urging a return to foundational values that unite and sustain the nation.

Doannio/Sou concluded by affirming that resilience involves reaffirming humanity, promoting solidarity, and maintaining core values. Through dance and movement, the festival showcases that humanity endures despite adversity.
