Former Livestock Fence Apologizes for Terrorist Collaboration in Burkina Faso

Abu Dhabi:Combatant forces in the Liptako region have arrested Mahamadi, a 43-year-old former receiver of stolen livestock from terrorists. Known to be part of a network trading livestock stolen by groups such as the Islamic State in the Sahel, Mahamadi has publicly asked the Burkinabè people for forgiveness, expressing deep remorse for his actions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mahamadi, a resident of Oudalan province, detailed how terrorists would contact network members after attacks to arrange for the collection and sale of stolen livestock in local markets like Markoye, Gorom-Gorom, and Dori. He expressed regret for facilitating terrorist financing, acknowledging the damage caused by his actions.

Mahamadi's personal experiences as a victim of the same terrorist groups compounded his guilt. He admitted to being driven from his village by the very groups he inadvertently aided. Mahamadi urged others involved in selling stolen animals to reconsider their actions.

He also expressed gratitude towards the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their efforts against terrorism and the treatment he received since his arrest. Mahamadi's testimony echoes that of other former collaborators, like Bila and Boukaré, who have also urged their former accomplices to cease support for terrorist activities.
